Most travellers in Catalonia head north to the Pyrenees. They miss this — the Prades range, just behind Mas Luna, with the spectacular cliff village of Siurana, and some of the best low-altitude hiking in the country.

A four-hour round trip from the village of Prades to the summit (Tossal de la Baltasana, 1,201 m). Pine forests, oak groves, panoramic views to both the sea and the mountains. Mid-difficulty, well-marked.
Easy walk through the woods to a small waterfall. Two hours round trip. In summer you can swim. Bring water — it's hot.
World-famous among rock climbers. Hard routes for the experts, but also easier ones. The bar in the village welcomes climbers — it's how the place stays alive.
A village abandoned in the 1960s, now ruins on a windy plateau. Walk through the stones, imagine the lives. The mountain weather changes fast — bring a layer.
